Academy Prep focuses on player development and prepares our players to enter the Pre-Academy and Development Academy (USSDA). FC Greater Boston is one of 78 Clubs across the United States to be selected by US Soccer Federation to participate in this exclusive program. Our Academy Prep program includes multiple teams in U10, U11 and U12 age groups. Each team competes in the New England Premiership League in the fall and spring.
Our U10 teams play 6v6 while our U11 and U12 teams play 8v8. This format provides better development at younger ages providing more touches on a ball while playing on a smaller field. Teams practice twice weekly and play one or two games on Sundays. Practices are held in Newton and at Harvard in Cambridge. In addition to practices and games, teams may play in up to three tournaments per year. the club fees for 2011-12 are as follows: Boys U10 team fees are $1900; Boys U11 club fees are $2400; Boys U12 club fees are $2600.

After U12, players can choose which path they want to pursue within the club. Our most competitive and committed players follow the Development Academy path. The time and travel commitment in Pre-Academy and Development Academy is greater than pursuing the Premier path. For those players and families who cannot commit to the time and travel requirements of the Development Academy, we provide another option to pursue-- the Premier path. This path allows our players to continue to develop while playing on competitive teams in a competitive environment. In some cases, our Premier players may be called up to play on our Academy teams.
