BOLTS ALUM AARON MAUND DRAFTED BY TORONTO FC
We are excited to share that FC Greater Boston Bolts alumnus, Aaron Maund of Dorchester, MA was chosen 12th overall in the MLS SuperDraft held in Kansas City by Toronto FC.
In addition to playing for the Bolts, Aaron was a four-year varsity starter at The Roxbury Latin School and a formidable and hardworking player for the University of Notre Dame. Aaron was also a 5-year Massachusetts Olympic Development Program player and represented the United States at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in 2009. Two years prior, Maund played for Trinidad & Tobago in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup.

Bolts Alum Jen Leaverton Leads the St. John’s Red Storm in 2011
St. John’s senior forward Jen Leaverton is one of four nominees for Big Apple Soccer women’s college player of the year, and a regional nominee for the Soccer News Net Women’s College Boot, recognizing the national player of the year.
Leaverton (Mansfield, Mass./Bishop Feehan/FC Greater Boston Bolts) led the Red Storm in scoring with 10 goals, including six game-winners, and was named to the All-Big East Second Team. The Mansfield, Mass., native tallied a career-high 22 points in her senior season. The senior forward was named to the NYC St. John’s Classic All-Tournament team and earned All-Big East honor roll accolades twice in 2011 (Oct. 3 and Oct. 24). She was also named the SoccerSavings.com/Soccer News Net National Player of the Week for Oct. 3 after scoring back-to-back game-winners, and all three goals at Rutgers (Sept. 30) and Seton Hall (Oct. 2). Leaverton also catapulted the Red Storm into the Big East Tournament, when she scored two goals in the regular-season finale against Syracuse (Oct. 21).

 Boston College junior forward Charlie Rugg is one of four nominees for New England Soccer News men’s college player of the year, and a regional nominee for the Soccer News Net College Boot, recognizing the national player of the year.
Rugg (Roslindale, Mass./Rivers HS/FC Greater Boston Bolts) is only the second Boston College player to earn back-to-back selections to the all-ACC First Team. Going into the NCAA tournament, Rugg led the Eagles with eight goals, 21 points and five game-winners and is second with five assists. He ranked second in the Atlantic Coast Conference in game-winners, seventh in goals, eighth in points and 10th in assists. Two of his five overall game-winners came in ACC action and both were overtime clinchers, while another came in the victory against Maryland in the ACC quarterfinals. The Roslindale, Mass., resident has also started 60 games with 23 goals and 14 points. He ranks fifth all-time at BC in career points and sixth in goals.

CHICAGO (Nov. 2, 2011) - U.S. Under-23 Men’s National Team head coach Caleb Porter has named 31 players to the roster for the upcoming training camp in Duisburg, Germany which also features several players who are age-eligible for the U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team. The camp will be held from Nov. 7-16 at the Sportschule Wedau, a German sporting school where the players will train and stay. More players may be added to the roster based on the results of the upcoming MLS playoff matches.
Bolts Alum Chris Pettiglio Gives Davidson Men's Soccer Crucial Win Over Elon with Double OT Goal
 ELON, NC - Sophomore Chris Pettiglio (Number 18) scored the game-winning goal in double overtime to give Davidson a 3-2 victory in Southern Conference men's soccer action Saturday night at Rudd Field.
"It was a thrilling victory for the team," said Davidson head coach Matt Spear. "Conference games are wild and crazy, and this one certainly was. I'm real proud of the guys for gutting out an important win."
Pettiglio's goal came after an Elon foul gave junior, Peter Paras a free kick opportunity. Paras shot the ball on net and it was saved, but the rebound bounced free in the middle of the goal box, and Pettiglio was there to finish.
"Chris Pettiglio scored the game-winner, but he also played a really good game," said Spear. "He got his first start of the season tonight and had a great all-around match, so it was well-deserved for him to get the match-winner." In addition to playing Division I Soccer for Davidson, Chris made the Honor Roll for last year and was recognized for excellence in academics.
