Bolts Families:

In my role as CEO, I am often asked  "Who are the FC Greater Boston Bolts"?

For the past 25 years, FC Greater Boston Bolts, Inc. has been commited to the development of successful soccer players and has provided the highest level of soccer coaching and training, competition, and programs to the top youth soccer players in New England. The club’s alumni excel at the highest levels of soccer, and include high profile players such as US National Team member, Charlie Davies and recently appointed New England Revolution head coach, Jay Heaps.  This past year saw significant growth for the organization, as the Bolts became affiliated with top US clubs in both Rhode Island and New Hampshire, and internationally with Celtic FC.  FC Greater Boston is extremely excited about the tremendous opportunities that our affiliation with Celtic FC brings for our players and coaches, and we look forward to a great year ahead as we continue to pursue our Commitment to Development and Tradition of Excellence.

This is our 25th anniversary year, and we look forward to honoring our past and celebrating our future with the entire Bolts community.

BOLTS PLAYERS ATTEND NATIONAL TRAINING CENTER

This weekend, U. S. National Training Centers will be held at the Dana Farber Field House in Foxboro.  We are pleased to announce that the following  Bolts players players were invited to attend.  They are: Duff Thomson ’94, Scott Greenwood ’95, Alex Ainscough ’95, Denis Martinez ’96, Mohamed Kenawy ’96, Jack Doran ’97,  Miles Robinson ’97, Jacob Maddox ’98 and Noah Gans ’98.

U.S. Soccer Training Centers are single day, invitational training sessions run by U.S. Soccer staff for elite players. Training Centers (TCs) are a relatively new platform designed to improve player identification, player development and coach development. Each TC will be administered by the Academy Conference’s Technical Advisor, assisted by Academy coaches and National Team Coaches. Training Centers are open to the top players from any team, club or organization at no cost to the player.

Bolts Director of Coaching Brian Ainscough stated, "I think this is a great opportunity for our players to work with the U.S. staff coaches and showcase their talent." Brian went on to say, "we are proud to have Bolts players represented regularly at the Training Centers and feel strongly that the Bolts Academy program can play a critical role in helping talented players get identified. Scott Prozeller is jut one example, he was identified for the U20 team in 2009."

IN THE COMMUNITY

Coach Smith Utubor shares his love of soccer in Nigeria

Smith Utubor w children in Nigeria
Coach Utubor travelled to Nigeria with his family in December 2011 to officially launch the Utubor Sports Foundation.

The Foundation (USF) is a nonprofit organization, established by the Utubor  family, dedicated to the enhancement of an individual’s education, health and welfare.  The Foundation’s mission is to prepare, promote, and direct the youth of Ewohimi, a village in Edo State, Nigeria, in the improvement of their lives.  The hope is to encourage young boys and girls to visualize, comprehend and even marvel at the opportunity for growth in their personal lives.

As part of their mission, Coach Utubor delivered soccer and school supplies to the children of this area who face tremendous adversity including extreme poverty, famine, drought, and diseases such as malaria and HIV.

Coach Utubor extends his thanks to all those that have supported his efforts to date, and especially to the families from FC Greater Boston Bolts, particularly the U11/U12 Boys, who donated great quantities of soccer attire and equipment, school supplies, and clothing.  For additional information on the Utubor Sports Foundation and how you can help  Click Here

BOLTS BAD WEATHER POLICY

As many families drive great distances for training sessions and games, we want to encourage everyone to use their best judgment before getting out on the road.  Safety of all of our players and families is our number one priority.  With bad weather predicted for tomorrow, please make sure you check email BEFORE leaving the house.  Some facilities close, some stay open.  Some coaches also drive a great distance and may be unable to get to a practice in bad weather.  We will communicate any cancellations through email TO TEAM MANAGERS and COACHES and STAFF as soon as we get any information from facilities.
