Adam Pfeifer is entering his fifth year as assistant coach for Northeastern. Pfeifer joined the Huskies in 2006, a year after head coach Brian Ainscough took over the program. Pfeifer works with all aspects of the program, including recruiting. He has been a critical part of the Northeastern’s rise to the of the CAA over the last two seasons.
Pfeifer joined Northeastern after one season as an assistant coach under Ed Kelly at his alma mater Boston College.
Pfeifer played four years for Kelly’s Eagles and finished his career in the Boston College top 20 in points (36) as well as in the top 10 in assists (16). The Newton, MA, native led the team with six assists his freshman year, then paced the Eagles in goals (6) and points (15) his sophomore season while finishing sixth in scoring in the Big East. He was also a key contributor on the 2002 team that had a program -best 18 victories, won the Big East Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals. In 2003 as a senior, Pfeifer led BC with four assists.
During the summer prior to his junior and senior seasons at Boston College, Pfeifer was a member of the Premier Development League’s Cape Cod Crusaders that captured back-to-back national championships.
Pfeifer attended Newton North High School, where he was honored as Gatorade Massachusetts Player of the Year and NSCAA Massachusetts Player of the Year, and became the school’s first All-American in boys soccer. He helped the team to three straight Bay State League titles from 1996-98 and the Massachusetts Division 1 North Section title twice in 1998 and 1999. He was also named to the Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic teams in 1999.
Pfeifer graduated from Boston College in 2003. His sister, Jessica, was a standout for the Northeastern women’s soccer team from 2002-05 and finished her career ranked third all-time in points. Pfeifer resides in Charlestown.
