Brian Ainscough, Director of Coaching and Technical Director for FC Bolts Celtic, formerly known as FC Greater Boston Bolts, announced today that the club is expanding into Central Massachusetts, with teams beginning league play in Fall 2012.
“We are extremely excited to be bringing the Bolts Way to Central Massachusetts! The new FC Central Mass Bolts will be part of FC Bolts Celtic. The club decided that there was a tremendous opportunity for us to offer talented and committed younger soccer players the opportunity to play with Bolts coaches, using the Bolts Training System, locally, reducing the amount of travel time placed on younger players and their families. Players in the U10-U12 age groups may choose to continue to play travel soccer with their town clubs. For players in Central Massachusetts, this provides them additional soccer training at the highest level.”
Ainscough added “we are very pleased to announce that the coaching staff in Central Massachusetts will be led by Dave Teggart & Marco Koolman, head men’s soccer coach at Holy Cross, and will include Chris Gbandi, assistant men’s soccer coach at Holy Cross and Andrew Greiner, formerly of FC Celtic. Additional coaches will be named shortly. These coaches have significant playing experience; have been coaching successfully for many years; and are committed to ensuring player development”. Ainscough concluded, "The biggest benefit of creating a premier option is to give the most talented soccer players in the Central Massachusetts region the opportunity to play at a higher level without traveling great distances. We are bringing the best coaches and the best training directly to them.”
TRYOUTS for Central Mass Bolts teams will be conducted during the middle of June at Berlin Memorial School, 34 South St, Berlin, MA
Please bring: a soccer ball (size 4), a drink and a positive attitude! Wear cleats and shin-guards. Players will be asked to demonstrate skills and will be evaluated by coaches. The Bolts were established in 1986 and are known as the premier soccer club in New England, preparing soccer players to play at the top levels in college and professionally for over 25 years. Recently, the club’s superb reputation has spread both domestically and internationally. The Bolts have established a club in Londonderry, New Hampshire; are affiliated with the top club in Rhode Island - Bayside Bolts; and last year announced a partnership with Celtic FC, the premier soccer club in Glasgow, Scotland. Our club’s goal is to continue to expand strategically, providing opportunities for top players in New England to become part of the Bolts. We are extremely excited to have Worcester and the Central Massachusetts area as part of our Bolts family!
It is highly recommended that players attend both nights of tryouts. If you cannot attend both nights, please be sure to speak to the coach.
